Arbor Vitae man gets probation
after agreeing to theft charge

 

A 21-year-old Arbor Vitae man had a felony charge of burglary of a building or dwelling dismissed and entered a no contest plea to a charge of misdemeanor theft in a plea agreement in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Kevin B. Kurek, who took money from a fanny pack in another person’s home, had an  additional charge of misdemeanor bail jumping dismissed in the plea agreement.

Kurek’s sentence was withheld and he was placed on probation for two years with the following conditions: restitution of $125 to the victim; fined $505; not to possess or consume intoxicants; no taverns; alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) counseling as deemed appropriate by the agent; participate in restorative

A total of 286 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

Man involved in gang activities
placed on probation for 3 years

A 22-year-old Lac du Flambeau man, who was involved in gang activity that resulted in drug and battery convictions,  was placed on probation for three years after reaching a plea agreement in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Brian C. Wolfe pleaded no contest and was found guilty of manufacturing or delivery of a prescription drug, but had a charge of possession of narcotic drugs dismissed in the agreement though it was  read-in at sentencing.

Arbor Vitae man gets probation
for 2005 sexual assault of child

A 42-year-old Arbor Vitae man, who was convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old girl at his cousin’s house in the summer of 2005, was placed on probation for 10 years after his prison sentence was stayed in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Keith T. Breneman was sentenced to 10 years in the Wisconsin Prison System, including six years of confinement and four years of extended supervision, but Circuit Judge Neal Nielsen III stayed the sentence and placed Breneman was placed on probation for 10 years.

Conditions of Breneman’s probation include: no contact with the victim,
