Man involved in gang activities
placed on probation for 3 years

A 22-year-old Lac du Flambeau man, who was involved in gang activity that resulted in drug and battery convictions,  was placed on probation for three years after reaching a plea agreement in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Brian C. Wolfe pleaded no contest and was found guilty of manufacturing or delivery of a prescription drug, but had a charge of possession of narcotic drugs dismissed in the agreement though it was  read-in at sentencing.

A total of 276 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

Arbor Vitae man gets probation
for 2005 sexual assault of child

A 42-year-old Arbor Vitae man, who was convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old girl at his cousin’s house in the summer of 2005, was placed on probation for 10 years after his prison sentence was stayed in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Keith T. Breneman was sentenced to 10 years in the Wisconsin Prison System, including six years of confinement and four years of extended supervision, but Circuit Judge Neal Nielsen III stayed the sentence and placed Breneman was placed on probation for 10 years.

Conditions of Breneman’s probation include: no contact with the victim,

Woman gets 11?2 years’ prison for three battery convictions

A 24-year-old Lac du Flambeau woman was sentenced to one year, six months in the Wisconsin Prison System and three years of extended supervision as part of  a sentencing on multiple convictions, including three battery cases, in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Paige R. Poupart received the sentence as part of a felony bail jumping conviction after she missed a court date on the battery charge. She also received six months in the Vilas County Jail on a obstructing an officer conviction as part of the July 13, 2012, incident when she gave false information to a law enforcement officer. The jail time will run concurrent with the prison sentence.

Poupart had a sentence withheld and was placed on probation
