Phelps man gets deferred entry
in burglary of animal hospital

A 20-year-old Eagle River man, who pleaded guilty to burglarizing the Eagle River Animal Hospital and a home in Phelps, and criminal damage to property at a Winchester residence, agreed to a deferred entry of judgement (DEJ) in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Shane H. Ray of Phelps pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary of a building or dwelling and three counts of criminal damage to property as part of a plea agreement. Charges of attempted burglary of a building or dwelling of the Winchester home and felony bail jumping for an incident at Koinonia Aug. 5, 2013, were dismissed.

Man who injured others
gets extended supervision

A 45-year-old Lac du Flambeau man who crashed the vehicle he was driving while intoxicated into a tree last June, injuring six people,  was sentenced to five years in the Wisconsin Prison System in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.
Richard G. Allen, who was operating the vehicle, will serve the prison sentence on extended supervision, Vilas Circuit Judge Neal A. Nielsen III ruled. Nielsen also sentenced Allen to the county jail for one year.
Allen pleaded guilty to one count of intoxicated use of a vehicle causing great bodily harm, one count of first degree recklessly endangering safety, one count of recklessly endangering safety, and one count of causing injury operating while intoxicated. Nine other charges were dismissed, but read-in at sentencing.
