Conover man gets probation
for theft of business checks

A 24-year-old Conover man had his sentence withheld and he was placed on probation for 18 months after pleading no contest to amended charges of misdemeanor theft of moveable property under $2,500 and disorderly conduct in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Benjamin J. Otterpohl-Rosinski was originally charged with two counts of  forgery and two counts of uttering a forgery.  One count of forgery and one count of uttering a forgery were dismissed, but read in at sentencing for restitution.

A total of 261 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

The department reported at least 28 vehicle accidents, two requests for an ambulance, one animal problem, six requests for agency assistance, 10 burglar alarms, two burglaries, three requests for citizen assistance, one battery, one domestic violence complaint, one instance of found property, three cases of fraud,

Woman gets five years’ probation
for possessing, delivering narcotics

A 21-year-old Lac du Flambeau woman, who transported drugs from Milwaukee to sell in Lac du Flambeau, was sentenced to four years in the Wisconsin Prison System, including two years of initial confinement and two years of extended supervision, in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Charlene R. Edwards was convicted of possession with intent to deliver narcotics, party to a crime.

Circuit Judge Neal A. Nielsen III stayed the sentence and placed Edwards on five years’
