Wants public meeting on deer research plan

Letter to the Editor:

I read the article by Kurt Krueger regarding the Department of Natural Resources’ proposed deer research program on 900 acres of state-owned land south of Palmer Lake.

In the article he mentions a meeting in Boulder Junction where this program will be discussed.

I have tried to check into this meeting, but have not been able to

Take the help that is offered

Letter to the Editor:

I recently read a very disturbing article in last week’s News-Review. It was about the mayor of Eagle River being hospitalized with E. coli meningitis.

As I was reading this, I felt very sorry for the man and what he was going through,

Candidate fueling anger with inaccuracies

Letter to the Editor:

To the town of Lincoln voters and taxpayers:

Ms. Kara Vander Bloomen is on the April 1 ballot for the town of Lincoln supervisor position being vacated by Leon Kukanich. I urge you to direct your vote elsewhere.

So far, Ms. Vander Bloomen has insulted every person on the town board, including the secretary/treasurer. She sees what she wants to see, but doesn’t look past the numbers. She has posted on her Facebook page, but has deleted any negative comments.

The pay grade for our supervisors and chairman is reflected in

Our view

Every citizen has access
under public records law

This is Sunshine Week in America, a week-long celebration of laws that promote open government and enhance the public’s right to know — the foundation of a participatory democracy and a crucial part of our republic form of government.

In Wisconsin, vibrant “sunshine laws” such as the Public Records Law and the Open Meetings Law provide broad access to information about how our state and local governments operate, including the acts of public officers and employees.

Vilas County Board adapted to change

Letter to the Editor:

Open letter to the citizens of Vilas County:

To the citizens of the town of Cloverland-District 13, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for electing me to the Vilas County Board of Supervisors for the past eight years. I feel that I have served you to the best of my abilities and now it is time for someone else to serve.

To all the citizens of the county, it truly has been a rewarding

Candidate not informed on town government

Letter to the Editor:

In the March 5, 2014, edition of this publication, the editor saw fit to publish a letter from Kara Vander Bloomen that I and others saw as a free campaign ad.

Ms. Vander Bloomen stated that we should vote for her “if you want to shake things up and start making improvements.”

I would like to state that Ms. Vander Bloomen has not spoken to any town of Lincoln official directly about all of the problems that she feels exist in the town. Instead, she has seen fit to run a campaign on a social media site on the Internet that casts doubt on

Candidate sends a negative message

Letter to the Editor:

I use this means to thank Leon Kukanich for his dedication to the residents of the town of Lincoln the past 18 years. A plaque and the kind words presented at this month’s meeting were well deserved. He and the entire board continue to manage the budget well and have kept tax rates to the lower level in the county.

Thanks to the encouragement of the late Eleanor Gorz and the late Lola Inberg

Rogacki deserves second term

Letter to the Editor:

Integrity in our local elected government officials is paramount to all concerned. When we vote for someone, we expect them to be truthful and true to their word.

This April, we will elect a St. Germain county board representative

Let’s license cats too

Letter to the Editor:

The headline reads: “Vilas County ramps up effort to boost dog license compliance.” One would think that dogs are the only pet in the county, what about cats?

Lost Paws always has lost cats, so it seems there are a few living in the county. Since I spend a couple hundred dollars each year to keep my dog properly vaccinated and protected against the various tick borne illnesses, plus have him microchipped and licensed,

News reporting is outstanding

Letter to the Editor:

Just a note to thank all of the news reporters for doing such an outstanding job of reporting on local political and educational news in our area.

The reporting is factual and concise and I, for one, appreciate that. Thanks a bunch and keep up the good work!
