Honored to ride on float recognizing Vietnam vets

Letter to the Editor:

This is a thank-you to this year’s Eagle River Fourth of July parade marshal, Dick Hansen, who honored the Vietnam veterans with a welcome home. I got to ride along with my husband and other Vietnam veterans on the float.

What a moment seeing and hearing the applauding, standing and thank-yous given to them. In a time when our military is being made smaller and weaker, this was refreshing to see.

A thank-you also to someone who ate

On July 2, the Vilas County Forestry, Recreation & Land Committee enthusiastically voted to

Vote needed on ATV issue

Letter to the Editor:

And now comes 2014 and once again all-terrain vehicle (ATV) use in Vilas County (Phelps) is being resubmitted after being denied by the county board 12-8 in 2012.

The board also denied ATV use in Lac du Flambeau by a vote of 13-8 in 2013.  In 2004, Vilas County residents voted by a margin of two-thirds against one-third for ATV use on Vilas County land.

If this issue needs to be revisited again this year,
