Eagle boys edged by Ashland, take second at home relay meet

Northland Pines had another close finish in boys track last Tuesday, as the Eagles took second place after hosting an indoor relay meet.

“Relay meets are exciting for our athletes,” said Hayes. “Even in the field events, three athletes have their distances added together to get their overall distance.”

Ashland took home the win with 114 points, followed by the Eagles with 108, Hurley with 72, Antigo with 50 and Tomahawk with 46.

Vilas, Oneida hearing speakers mixed on trolling

For the second straight year, a proposal to allow statewide motor trolling  drew the most interest at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) annual Spring Fish & Wildlife Hearings in two counties here Monday night.

At St. Germain, about 120 Vilas County residents showed up to vote on one DNR proposed rule change and 57 advisory questions, while more than 100 people attended the Oneida County meeting at James Williams Middle School in Rhinelander.

Soccer sign up slated for St. Germain area

St.?Germain-Sayner Sting­­ers Youth Soccer will host registration Monday, April 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the St. Germain Elementary School commons.

The registration will be for participation in the Headwaters Youth Soccer Association’s fall recreational soccer league.

It is open to all children from the St. Germain-Sayner area entering kindergarten through eighth grade. Home-schooled children are welcome.
