Pines invite

Eagle boys take third at home track meet

The Northland Pines High School boys track team took third place out of a tough field of nine teams at its home meet last Thursday night in the field house.

Chequamegon won the meet with 130 points, followed by Kingsford with 115, Northland Pines with 101, Ashland with 92, Antigo with 79, West Iron County with 35, Wakefield-Marinesco with 29, Crivitz with 29, and Watersmeet High with five.

“It was a close meet for us the entire time,”?said Pines coach John Hayes. “There were only a couple of times during the meet where the top five teams weren’t within 10 points of each other.”

Jays track teams compete at Lakeland

The Three Lakes Bluejays track team traveled to Minocqua last Thursday for its second indoor competition of the 2014 season, building on the progress of last week’s season opener.

With only Jena Miles and Peyton Radaj competing for the Lady Jays, the team still racked up 15 points between them to finish sixth.

Packers Tailgate Tour tickets still available

Tickets are still available for the Packers Tailgate Tour party in Merrill April 19, the team announced Monday. The party will benefit the Riverbend Trail.

Tailgate party tickets may be purchased at the Merrill Chamber of Commerce, located at 705 N. Center Ave. in Merrill; Dave’s County Market, 300 E. 1st St., Merrill; and Drew’s Piggly Wiggly, 3404 E. Main St., Merrill.
