Coach Clark resigns from Pines basketball

Northland Pines varsity boys basketball coach Ryan Clark, after getting a one-year contract extension last month, submitted his resignation to the administration last week.

“I did submit an official resignation and would prefer not to comment much further,” said Clark last Thursday. “I will only say again how grateful I am for the opportunity to have coached at Pines, and for the many people who supported me throughout my tenure and at the last school board meeting.”

Girls soccer team sets dinner

The Northland Pines girls soccer team will have a “chicken feed” benefit dinner at Lumpy’s Sports Bar & Grill Sunday, April 14, from 3 to 8 p.m.

Tickets for the chicken buffet dinner will be $12 for adults and $8 for children age 10 and under. Tickets may be purchased from any girls soccer player, at Lumpy’s or at the door the day of the dinner.

Eagle boys take first at home track meet

The Northland Pines High School track team took first place in its third meet of the season last Tuesday.

The Eagles took first with 158 points, followed by Ashland with 119, Kingsford, Mich. with 87.5, Marathon with 70.5, West Iron, Mich. with 46 and Prentice with 10.

Northland Pines has avenged two of its three losses of the season, beating Ashland and Chequamegon in the last two meets.
