Lady Jays soccer team wins two over Phillips

The Three Lakes High School girls soccer team got back-to-back wins over Phillips with a 2-0 victory last Thursday and a 3-1 win Friday. The Lady Jays previously lost a match 2-1 to Ashland last Tuesday.

Against Phillips Thursday, Erika Running and Natalie Miller scored the goals with an assist credited to Kacey Running.

Jays grab NLC?win over Elcho

The Three Lakes Bluejays baseball team got a 3-1 Northern Lakes Conference (NLC) win over Elcho last Thursday, but fell 14-11 to White Lake Tuesday, lost to Shell Lake 7-6 and 12-5 in a doubleheader Saturday, and dropped an NLC game to Laona-Wabeno 9-2 Monday.

The Bluejays came into the week still searching for their first conference win, and the team had high hopes hosting White Lake last Tuesday.

Three Lakes senior Matt Wilkowski took the mound and kept the ball around the strike zone going five innings while striking out six, walking two and surrendering six hits.

Eagles upset Hodags 6-5 on ball diamond

The Northland Pines Eagles baseball team got a huge win last week, upsetting Rhinelander 6-5 in a Great Northern Conference (GNC)?game at Hodag Park.

The Eagles erupted for six runs on six hits in the top of the?second?inning. Rhinelander also had an error in the inning.

Tanner Beaman started the second inning with a single, followed by a single from Hunter Kaehler and a RBI single from Logan Meier. Dan Peters pushed Kaehler across on an RBI double and scored on a two-RBI triple

Eagle River Speedway to host races Friday night
Eagle River Speedway has moved its race program to Friday nights. Returning to the one-third-mile tri-oval track will be the fast Micro Sprint vehicles.        —STAFF PHOTO

Spring is here and stock cars are set to take to the one-third-mile tri-oval at Eagle River Speedway this Friday night. Pits and stands will open at 5 p.m. and hot laps are set to start at 7 p.m.
