Scale model contest planned this Saturday

Northwoods Scale Model Phanatics will host the Spring in the Pines Model Contest and Swap Meet Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Eagle River Derby Track Expo Hall, located at 1311 N. Railroad St. in Eagle River.

Entry fees are $10 for adults for the first 12 models and $1 for any additional models. For juniors and intermediates, the fee is $5 for any number of entries. Each entrant receives a free raffle ticket.

There will be a raffle, a making session where children will get to take home a model and a swap meet.

Categories include: autos — street stock, racing, custom and out of the box;

Pines Wellness Center still has class openings

The Pines Community Wellness Center, located at Northland Pines High School, still has class openings for Summer Session 1. Classes began May 26 and run through July 6.

Classes include Boot Camp Mondays and Saturdays, from 6 to 7 a.m.; Chair Based Yoga Saturdays, from  9:15 to 10 a.m.; Total Body Senior 1 Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8 to 9 a.m.; Total Body Senior 2 Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.; and Yoga Saturdays, from 8 to 9 a.m.

One six-week session class held one time per week will be $10 for members and $20

Earth Base Recycling Club accepting markers, glue sticks

The Earth Base Recycling Club of Eagle River Elementary School has announced it is expanding its recycling efforts to include collection of all brands of plastic markers and Elmer’s glue sticks and bottles.

This effort includes cooperation from schools in the Northland Pines School District.

The club has extended an invitation to the public to contribute
