Vilas entrepreneurs receive training

Eleven Vilas County entrepreneurs recently received specialized training through the E-Seed Entrepreneurship Training program sponsored by Nicolet College and hosted by the Vilas County Economic Development Corp.

Over the 12 sessions, students examined numerous aspects of running a successful business. Topics included how to conduct a feasibility study, analyze competition, and understand legal and insurance issues.

Meteorologist Benz to speak at Trees

Trees For Tomorrow in?Eagle River announced its upcoming events.

Chief Meteorologist Matt Benz of WJFW-TV in Rhinelander will talk about unique aspects of weather in the North Woods Tuesday, June 10, at 7:15 p.m. at Trees For Tomorrow in Eagle River.

Benz’s talk is the first of 10 Tuesday evening public presentations hosted by Trees For Tomorrow over the next several weeks as part of the natural resources school’s summer outreach efforts.

Northern Access Special Olympics competes in Hometown Games

The Northern Access Special Olympics Athletic Team competed in the Hometown Games Saturday, May 10, in Merrill.

The Hometown Games serve as a qualifier for the Special Olympics Wisconsin State Summer Games to be held at UW-Stevens Point June 5-7.

Athletes who received a first, second or third place in any event at the Hometown Games are eligible to compete in the State Games.

Laser Tag Zombie Hunt scheduled June 13

The second annual Laser Tag Zombie Hunt is set Friday, June 13, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Eagle Falls Adventure Golf and Laser Tag, located at 1040 East Pine St. in Eagle River.

Teams of five players will compete for the high score during the hunt. To make points, participants will tag opponents, their target and zombies.

“Be on the lookout because phaser equipped zombies are lurking in the darkness waiting for participants,” said a Laser Tag Zombie Hunt organizer.
