Abrams?Brothers slated to perform in Eagle River

The Headwaters Council for the Performing Arts (HCPA) will host a performance by The Abrams Brothers Saturday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Northland Pines School Auditorium in Eagle River. Doors will open at 7 p.m. to allow attendees to choose seating.

With the release of their newest CD “Northern Redemption,” The Abrams Brothers — John, James and cousin Elijah — make a transition from the music of their roots to their own distinct sound.

“It's a combination of bluegrass, country and folk-rock that had the Canadian festival circuit up in arms over their potential,” raved Ken Wendt, season ticket chair for HCPA.

Pierson named naturalist at Trees For Tomorrow

Liz Pierson, a naturalist-intern at Trees For Tomorrow since August, became a permanent staff member at the natural resources specialty school in Eagle River March 1.

Pierson replaces Cheryl Todea who was promoted to operations manager at Trees For Tomorrow earlier this year.

“Liz has 10 years of teaching experience, a master’s degree and a positive attitude. She’s able to connect and communicate with school students of all ages as well as adults,” said Todea. “She’s a perfect fit for Trees For Tomorrow.”

Meat raffle scheduled

The American Legion Riders Association of Wisconsin District 11 will hold a meat raffle fundraiser in Eagle River Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m., at Finish Line Bar and Grill.

The meat is provided by Prime Choice Meat Market in Eagle River. Raffle packages include beef, pork, bacon, chicken, turkey, sausage and other assorted meats.

Tickets are 50 cents each per package
