Pines to hold open gym

Northland Pines High School in Eagle River announced there will be an open gym, which will include an opportunity to try out its climbing walls, Sunday, March 16, from 1 to 3 p.m at the high school field house.

This event will be open to all ages. Small children need to be able to fit into the climbing equipment and minors must be accompanied by a parent, or have a permission form and waiver in order to climb.

Attendees will have the opportunity to play basketball,

The Northland Pines Music Department performed the classic musical “The Sound of Music” in three public shows last weekend.  Maria Rainer (played by Katie Piper) teaches Family VonTrapp how to sing. A total of 50 students and 13 adults were involved in the cast, crew and music pit. More than 900 spectators watched the three public performances. Blizzard Blast set in Conover

The Northwoods Blizzard Blast will be held Sunday, Feb. 16. at 10 a.m. and continue until dusk at the Conover Community Park. The day will end with a fireworks celebration.
All proceeds benefit the North Woods area fire and emergency medical services departments.

Northwoods Singers seeking male vocalists

The Northwoods Singers are sending out a last call for male vocalists for the spring 2014 concert season. The Singers are a community choral ensemble conducted by Dr. Pamalyn Lee of Land O’ Lakes.
Bass, baritone and tenor voices are welcome to join the group, which practices each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at First  Congregational United Church of Christ in Eagle River.
This season’s concert schedule has expanded to three spring concerts. The venues for spring 2014 will be Ely Memorial United Church of Christ in Land O’ Lakes, Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m.; First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eagle River, Sunday, May 18, at 4 p.m.; and The Campanile Center in Minocqua,
