Face painting event set July 4 in Land O’ Lakes

Land O’ Lakes Area Artisans (LOLA) announced there will be face painting at the Happy Fourth Face-Off Friday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at the LOLA Center in preparation for the Land O’ Lakes Fourth of July parade, which starts at noon.

Art classes in LOLA’s  Summer Youth Art Program  are scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays, at either 10 to noon, or 1 to 3 p.m. at the LOLA Center.

Literacy training slated July 22-25 in Rhinelander

The Literacy Task Force of Northern Wisconsin will sponsor its annual literacy training workshop Tuesday-Friday, July 22-25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nicolet College Northwoods Center Room 207 in Rhinelander.

This year, Marsha Geller, M.Ed, will teach the Structured Language Training (SLANT) System®, a research-­based, multisensory professional development program.

The program is designed to improve teachers’ or tutors’ skills in teaching reading, spelling and writing to individuals of any age who have been unsuccessful using traditional approaches or who are considered at risk.

Warehouse donations
 Body By Nature Fitness Studio in Eagle River recently hosted a yoga festival at Riverview Park in Eagle River for people of all ages. The event featured art, yoga and fitness activities for children. All proceeds from a raffle were donated to The Warehouse Four Seasons Center for the Arts in Eagle River, which provided art activities at the event. Plein-air drawing class slated Saturday, July 12

The Warehouse Four Seasons Center for the Arts will offer a plein-air drawing class with instructor Bradley Davis Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at Chanticleer Inn’s Dollar Lake beach in Eagle River.

The class is part of the Warehouse’s summer programming series “Keeping Your Summer Inspired.”

“Davis will lead beginners and veterans alike in an enjoyable adventure in exploring mark making, innovative technique and the joy of looking closely at all the beautiful wonders of the outside world here in the North Woods,” said a Warehouse representative.
