Hearing screenings set Feb. 19 PDF Print E-mail

Hearing Advantage will hold two free hearing screenings Wednesday, Feb. 19, from noon to 4 p.m.
They will be at the St. Germain Community Center, located at 545 Highway 155, and at the Edward U. Demmer Library, located at 6961 W. School St., in Three?Lakes.

Frost instructs at first responders class

Dr. Holly Frost, pediatrician at Marshfield Clinic Lakeland Center in Wood­ruff, visited the St. Germain’s firefighters and first responders refresher course Feb. 3 to teach a unit on pediatric rescue and resuscitation.
Frost is originally from Rhinelander and attended Nicolet Area Technical College before going on to obtain a pediatrics degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, and completing residency at University of Colorado-Children’s Hospital of Denver.
Frost explained that children are not just little people. A child’s physiology and way of dealing with illness is completely different from that of an adult and the place this is most evident is in the airway.

Mayo to turn 100 Feb. 15
MAYO

Ann Mayo, lifelong resident of Eagle River, will turn 100 Saturday, Feb. 15.
Mayo was born in Chicago, Ill., and her parents moved to Eagle River when she was 2.
She lived on her family’s farm on Deerskin Road in the town of Washington until she was 98. At that time, she moved to Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Rhine­lander.

Community dinner canceled PDF Print E-mail

The Northwoods Share Community Dinner scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 18, has been canceled due to the primary elections to be held at the Lincoln Town Hall.
The next community dinner will be held at the Lincoln Town Hall Tuesday, March 4.

Doll club plans meeting

The Enchanted Doll Club of the Northwoods will hold a meeting Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. at Walter E. Olson Memorial Library in Eagle River.
After a short business meeting, Judy Wainwright of Eagle River will present a program on the Cindy Doll by Horsman Doll Co.
Cindy, a name used for at least four dolls made by the Horsman Doll Co., was a popular doll of the 1950s and 1960s.
