Hyslop benefit slated April 12

The Jeff Hyslop benefit dance, sponsored by Sunshine for Humanity, will take place Saturday, April 12, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at The Rock Community Center, located at 1019 E. Wall St. in Eagle River. The cover charge is $5. Children will be admitted free of charge.

Hyslop, Eagle River’s mayor, is recovering from a rare adult form of E. coli meningitis.

Organist Larry Jankowski will be the featured headliner at this event. Jankowski studied classical music with Bob Creed, the organist for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls and Sting.

He has now recorded seven albums that include standards, love songs,

Children’s museum plans Easter event

The Northwoods Children’s Museum (NCM) in Eagle River will host the Easter Bunny Sunday event Sunday, April 13, from noon to 4 p.m.

The Easter Bunny will be on hand to visit with guests and available for photo opportunities. There will be  exhibits that feature Easter-themed games for children with prizes.

Other childrens’ activities include cookie decorating and face painting. Child attendees will also have the opportunity to take home a cake in the cake walk. There will also be both child- and adult-themed door prizes for winners.

Nicolet’s information tech program offers new hands-on collaboration

Nicolet College’s information technology (IT) program is piloting a new technology on campus that emphasizes greater collaboration between students to master any number of IT skills.

The new learning stations are centered around high-tech tabletop projectors that beam course content onto a big white table. Students then gather around the table to collectively solve any given IT issue.

Wine-tasting benefit arranged in Conover

Lanny’s Fireside in Conover will host the eighth annual Wine Tasting Benefit Sunday, April 27, from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

The event will feature hors d’ouevres and a silent auction.

Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Vilas County, which operates a 501(c)(3) animal shelter in Vilas County.

Advance tickets are $25 and are available until Sunday,

Churches list Easter services

Easter church services are planned for Holy Week and Easter Sunday at churches throughout the North Woods. Holy Week dates include Maundy Thursday, April 17; Good Friday, April 18; Holy Saturday, April 19; and Easter Sunday, April 20.
