À la carte Care LLC, with locations in Eagle River, Minocqua and Tomahawk,  announced that it is under new ownership.

New owners at a la carte Care, which has been in business for eight years, are Leanne Posielenzny and Lisa Burke.

The business is staffed with certified nursing assistants (CNA) and licensed practical nurses (LPN) that provide in-home care services that specialize in dementia,

Vegetable canning series to start July 14 in Vilas

Vilas County UW-Extension will present the Food Safety & Preservation Series at the Vilas County Courthouse in Conference Room 3 in Eagle River Mondays, from noon to 1 p.m. on the following days:

—?July 14, “Canning Vegetables Safely,” turn up the heat and pressure to safely can garden vegetables;

— July 21, “Canning Tomatoes and Tomato Products,” featuring tips on canning tomatoes;

—?Aug. 11, “Canning Fruits Safely,” will include  tips on canning fruits safely;

—?Aug. 18, “Time to Make Pickles,”

Blues band to perform

The Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys will once again bring their passionate, Chicago-style blues to the Three Lakes Center for the Arts (TLCA), Friday, July 11, at 8 p.m. located on Superior Street in Three Lakes.

“The Reverend Raven has played with many greats including B.B. King,” said TLCA representative, Gay Scheffen. “Last summer the band brought the audience to their feet, cheering again and again.”

Reverend Raven will be accompanied by P.T. Pedersen on bass;

Choral concert set July 10
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Eagle River will present “Peaceful Waters,” a POPSAlive choral concert, Thursday, July 10, at 7 p.m. at the church, located at 5030 Highway 70 W.
The choir is an ecumenical group of singers drawn from several congregations and communities. Pamalyn Lee will direct the group. Linda Brainard will provide accompaniment.
A free-will offering will be taken to benefit Frederick Place in Rhinelander. A reception with refreshments will follow the concert.

St. Germain parade
The town of St. Germain kicked off the area’s Independence Day festivities with a parade downtown. Crowds gathered as community floats threw candy (above) and bracelets. Also included at St. Germain’s celebration were a five-kilometer fun run, concessions by the town’s Lions Club, children’s activities and the fourth annual Unique Raffle sponsored by the St. Germain Fire Department.                          —Staff Photo By ANTHONY?DREW
