Health seminar slated April 9 in Woodruff

Ministry Medical Group Woodruff Clinic announced its upcoming free educational seminars at Howard Young Medical Center, located at 240 Maple St. in Woodruff, in Classrooms 2 and 3. Refreshments will be available.

“Circle of Health, Reflections on Wellness and Balance in our lives,” a free educational one-hour seminar, will be held Wednesday, April 9, at noon or 5 p.m.

Attendees will discover how health equals balance, how to become proactive in healthcare, learn the benefits of physical activity, discuss the importance of good nutrition and learn the significance of rest and sleep.

The program’s key presenter is Ronald Cortte, M.D.

Vilas County Health Department offers Strong Women exercise program

Vilas County Public Health?Department (VCPHD) will offer the Strong Women program, an exercise program for middle-aged and older women, starting May 6 and running through July 17. Class space is limited, and early registration is encouraged.

Classes are held twice weekly from 10 to 11 a.m.  at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, located at 5030 Highway 70 W. in Eagle River.

Each class will include progressive weight training, flexibility, balance activities. The cost will be $30.

Hospital gift shop has new look

The Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary announced that its gift shop, located inside the hospital at 201 Hospital Road, has a new look.

The shop is newly painted and display areas have been rearranged. Old merchandise items are gone and new items are arriving daily.

Among the new items are baby items, kitchen items, children’s books, slippers, socks, stationary, picture frames, a few clothing items and jewelry.

Outdoor series set at Nicolet

Nicolet College announced the launch of its 2014 Outdoor Adventure Series. which will run through the fall.

A class on how to perform the Eskimo roll in a kayak, will take place Saturday, April 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Lakeland Union High School pool.

A course on core strengthening for standup paddleboarding is set Saturday, April 5 and 12, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Lakeland Union pool.

Each course is $99,
