Antique show set Aug. 30-31

C&J Promotions 2014 Antique Show will take place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30-31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lakeland Union High School, located at 9573 Highway 70 in Minocqua.

Admission will be $4 for adults. Children younger than 14 will be admitted free of charge. Proceeds partially benefit the Special Olympics.

Church celebrates 125 years by commissioning art piece

An original piece of art has been installed and dedicated in the sanctuary of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eagle River to conclude the 125th anniversary celebration of the founding of the church.

Designed and created by local wood artist Carl Gromoll, the piece is named “Spirit Triangle.” It is made from a piece of white oak from a 258-year-old tree, known as the “Spirit Oak,” that grew on family land in southern Wisconsin.

Veterans benefits forum slated Saturday, Sept. 13

A veterans benefits forum, hosted by American Legion Reino Post 21, will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Windsor Center in Iron River, Mich. The forum aims to help veterans better utilize services available to them.

Presentations will cover various topics that affect veterans and their families including health care, educational assistance, Agent Orange benefits, women’s health, housing, long-term care, burial benefits and a variety of other important issues.

Assistance will be available at the forum to help veterans apply

Little Lambs to hold open house Aug. 28

St. Mary of the Snows Anglican Church will host an open house for the new Little Lambs Children’s Ministry Thursday, Aug. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Rock Mission Community Center in Eagle River.

Little Lambs is a teaching program that will provide children with a faith-based curriculum supportive of Christian values.

The class is open to toilet-trained children of all Christian practices ages 3 to 5. Families can tour the facility and learn about the weekly program, which begins Tuesday, Sept. 9, and runs every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Symphony to perform in Rhinelander

The Northwoods Concert Association will present the Milwaukee?Symphony Orchestra in concert at the Rhinelander High School auditorium Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m.

Advance ticket sales for the concert will be available after Sept. 1 until the night of the concert.

Tickets for adults will be $25 in advance
