Sausage Fest set Aug. 31

The Eagle?River Lions Club will hold its inaugural Sausage Fest family fun day at Riverview Park in Eagle River Sunday, Aug. 31, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will include a five-kilometer (5K) fun run at 11:30 a.m., a Sausage Fest competition at 2 p.m., games, food, Oktoberfest beer, root beer floats and live music by the Bill Hassey Orchestra at noon.

There also will be a Lil’ Porkies fun run at 1 p.m.

Northland Adventure Quest brings Pines, Chinese students together

The Northland Adventure Quest — a two-week-long cultural experience engaging 26 Northland Pines School District students ages 10-14 with 20 Chinese students concluded with a closing ceremony last Thursday evening at Trees For Tomorrow in Eagle River.

Northland Pines SOAR Charter School advisors Kate Neville and Don Anderson instructed the students in a variety of settings from Aug. 4 to 14.

Nicolet Players auditions scheduled Sept. 15-16

Anyone interested in being a part of the Nicolet Players murder mystery production, “The Game’s Afoot,” is welcome to attend auditions Monday, Sept. 15, and Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Nicolet College Theater in the Learning Resources Center.

“This is the perfect play for anyone who has little or no acting experience and has always wanted to be in a play,” said Jim Nuttall, Nicolet College Theater director.

“It’s brilliantly written, which makes it great for first-time actors, and the story line is hilarious which makes rehearsals a whole lot of fun,” added Nuttall.

There are roles for three men and five women,

Technology lab classes start Aug. 25 at Nicolet

Nicolet’s new Electromechanical Technology Lab is nearing completion as the college readies for its first class of students at the start of fall semester Aug. 25.

Electromechanical technicians install, troubleshoot, repair and upgrade electronic and computer-controlled mechanical systems, such as automated assembly machines.

The skill set required combines knowledge of electronics and computers to drive mechanical and robotic automation systems.

Treat day
Dairy Queen of Eagle River recently held its third annual Charity Treat Day in which $2 from every Blizzard Treat sold will be donated to the Northwoods Children’s Museum.
