St. Germain parade
The town of St. Germain kicked off the area’s Independence Day festivities with a parade downtown. Crowds gathered as community floats threw candy (above) and bracelets. Lance Tischauser comes across as a gentle man with a calm demeanor but his paintings reveal a complex depth and passion beneath the surface.

Tischauser struggled with attention deficit disorder (ADD) until after his 40th birthday when he decided to try medication.

Antique show set July 5-6

C & J Promotions 2014 Antiques Show will take place Saturday and Sunday, July 5-6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua.

Admission is $5 for adults. Children younger than 14 are admitted free of charge. Proceeds partially benefit the Special Education Scholarship.

Presentation on Iraq slated at Many Ways

The presentation “The Crisis in Iraq and the Chance for Peace” will take place Monday, July 7, at 7 p.m. at Many Ways of Peace (MWP) in downtown Eagle River.

Dr. David Carlson, professor of religious studies at Franklin College in Indianapolis, Ind. will lead the program.

Lake group schedules food drive

Residents of Muskellunge Lake in the town of Cloverland will celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with their second annual food drive to support the Vilas Food Pantry.

“With a goal in mind to increase the quantity of our donations and the number of participants from last year, we will be collecting food at various sites around the lake and also during our third annual Fourth of July boat parade,” said Ruth Cerull.

The Muskellunge Lake Association will hold its boat parade Friday, July 4,
