Relay For Life seeking survivors

The Northwoods Relay For Life event, scheduled Friday, June 20th, at Northland Pines High School in Eagle River, is seeking cancer survivors.

Survivors need to register as soon as possible with a 2014 survivor form. Registration forms are available at Horant’s Garden Center or Sally and Jo’s Impressions, both in Eagle River.

Individuals can fill out a registration form and send it to Kim Olkowski, P.O. Box 1384, Eagle River, WI 54521.

POPS seeking singers

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Eagle River is seeking singers for POPS Alive, a new choral event to be held Thursday, July 10, at 7 p.m. at the church. No formal music training is required.

Rehearsals will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Prince of Peace sanctuary on the following Tuesdays in June and July: June 3, 10, 17 and 24, and July 1 and 8. July 8 is the dress rehearsal.

Wendy Savage named executive of?North Central Red Cross

The North Central Community Chapter of the American Red Cross Western Wisconsin Region, which includeds Vilas and Oneida counties, announced that Wendy Savage is its new community chapter executive.

Savage will be actively managing and working with staff, volunteers and the board of directors on strengthening local relationships and supporting programs that fulfill the mission of the Red Cross.

She will also be working directly with the board chairman, local business leaders and individuals to grow and develop the board, enhance volunteer capacity and support the many services the Red Cross provides throughout 12 counties in northcentral Wisconsin.

AARP Smart Driver Course set April 30 in Boulder Junction

The Boulder Junction Public Library will host an AARP Smart Driver Course Wednesday, April 30, at 10 a.m., in the Boulder Junction Community Center Boulder Lake Room.

The course, offered by AARP Driver Safety and taught by an AARP volunteer, is the nation’s largest classroom and online driver safety course.

It is designed for drivers age 50 and older. More than 15 million participants have gone through AARP Driver Safety classroom and online courses, taught by more than 4,000 AARP Driver Safety volunteers.

Benefit dinner slated April 18

Eagle River Masonic Lodge No. 248 will host a all-you-can-eat fish or chicken dinner with freshly-made desserts to benefit its scholarship fund Friday, April 18, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Oneida Village Inn in Three Lakes.

Adult admission is $10, admission for children ages 12 and younger is $5
