Church plans youth ministry this Saturday

Elevate Youth Ministries of Abundant Life Church will kick off its new youth ministry with a “Warning Signs” series for middle and high school students Saturday, Aug. 30, at Abundant Life Outreach Center.

Middle school students will meet at the church from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The high school sessions will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The program will feature games, pizza, live music, prizes and a message from Rev. Rob Dixon, Abundant Life youth pastor.

Ebert of Eagle River competes in Miss Teen

McKenzie Ebert, daughter of Tom and Wendy Ebert of Eagle River, was among the 48 candidates competing for the title of Miss Teen of Wisconsin at the 2014 State Pageant, which was held Aug. 8-10 in Stevens Point.

The winner of the pageant competition received a $1,000 cash scholarship, medallion of excellence, custom-designed award plaque and sash.

Walk Multiple Sclerosis slated in Rhinelander

Walk Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Rhinelander, Wisconsin’s only 5-kilometer Walk MS event north of Wausau, will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at Rhinelander High School. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

Last year, approximately 300 people attended the event and raised more than $35,000. This year, the goal is to raise $40,000.

Proceeds raised will benefit the National MS Society-Wisconsin
