The Monday Night Muskie League crowned this year’s winners recently at Holiday Lodge in Phelps. This year’s champions were Denoyer’s Destroyers, second went to Lumpy’s Bar & Grill and third was Holiday Lodge. Snomo class set Dec. 6-7 in Eagle River

A snowmobile safety education class sponsored by the Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club will be held at the Derby Track on Highway 45 in Eagle River Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7.

The course will be taught by Scott Linn and Chris Kloiber, both Department of Natural Resources (DNR) certified snowmobile safety instructors. Sno-Eagles Club members will assist.

Course times will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Students are required to obtain a DNR customer

Muskies Inc. plans banquet at Whitetail

The Northwoods Chapter 61 of Muskies Inc. will hold its inaugural Christmas banquet Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Whitetail Inn, located at 9038 Highway 70 W. in St. Germain.

The evening will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

The keynote speaker for the banquet is muskie angler and television personality Joe Bucher.

This banquet is the club’s major fundraising event for the year.

Nack named first DMAP leader

Bob Nack has been appointed as the Department  of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) and Big Game Section Chief.

Nack, 36, of Fall River, previously served as supervisor of the DNR State Game Farm in Poynette.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Nack as our DMAP and Big Game Section Leader,” said Tom Hauge, director of the DNR’s wildlife management program. “Nack is an avid outdoorsman and he understands and respects the passion Wisconsin has for our forests and big game populations.”

Nack will focus on developing and delivering the DMAP program to Wisconsin

DNR survey to help shape walleye stocking strategy

Walleye anglers and others interested in walleye management are invited to take an online survey to help shape the state’s future stocking strategy for walleye now that a $13 million investment to upgrade facilities and increase operating funds is expected to significantly boost the number of larger walleye stocked in Wisconsin.

“The Wisconsin Walleye Initiative has the capacity to increase seven, eight, even 10 times the number of larger walleye for stocking in Wisconsin waters where natural reproduction isn’t getting the job done,”
