Outdoor Women to hike Luna, White Deer lakes

The Outdoor Women’s Group will meet Sunday, June 1, at 1:30 p.m. to hike around Luna and White Deer lakes, which are located about 21 miles southeast of Eagle River.

Participants should meet at the Luna Lake boat landing parking lot.

Kids Fishing Day slated at Lost Lake Campground

The Eagle River-Florence Ranger District will hold its fourth annual Kids Fishing Day Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Che­quamegon-Nicolet National Forest’s Lost Lake Campground.

Registration for this free event begins at 10 a.m. In the event of hazardous weather, the event will be held Sunday, June 8.

Many local sponsors contributed to this event, providing all of the poles, bait and tackle. Families also may take their own equipment.

10th annual Callie Rohr Canoe Race planned on Wisconsin River June 14-15

Jeff and Marcia Rohr, owners of Rohr’s Wilderness Tours in Conover, are preparing for the 10th annual Callie Rohr Memorial Canoe and Kayak Race Saturday and Sunday, June 14-15, to benefit children’s brain cancer research.

The Rohrs have raised more than $111,000 over the last nine years and have funded four cancer research programs. This year’s proceeds will go to Dr. Tadanori Tomita’s research program connected with the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago,

June 7-8 billed as Free Fun weekend
