Ann Rowe Spangler

Ann H. (Holmgren) Rowe Spangler, age 92, of Greenfield, Ind. passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Springhurst Health Campus.
 
She was born on Jan. 15, 1933, to Franz Emil and Martha (Swanson) Holmgren. She attended the University of Chicago Laboratory High School and Amundsen High School and graduated in 1951.
 
In 1955, Ann graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.
 
She was lucky to find love twice and married Edward B. Rowe and Robert F. Spangler in her lifetime.
 
She grew up in the Chicago area and throughout her life lived in Northbrook, Ill., York, Pa., Palm City, Fla., and Phelps, Wis.
 
In her younger years, Ann dedicated herself to children and taught school as a teacher. She was a member of the PEO- Philanthropic education organization, a board member of the United Way, a PTA member, and a long-standing Girl Scout Leader.
 
Ann was very proud of her Swedish heritage.
She often enjoyed swimming, golfing, fishing, boating, tennis, and birdwatching while working in her garden. Ann also loved shopping at Von Maur…it was a passion!
 
She is survived by her son, John Rowe; daughters, Barbara (Paul) Roark and Marilyn Ruklick; several nieces; and a nephew; four grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Bowling, John Roark, Grace (Blaise) Vogt, and Lily Ruklick; and three great-grandchildren, David Bowling, Matthew Bowling, and JR Vogt.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward B. Rowe and Robert F. Spangler; and sister, Elsie Naffziger.
 
A private celebration of life will be held to honor Ann’s memory.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in Ann’s honor.
