Anthony “Tony”  Swaekauski

Anthony “Tony”  P. Swaekauski, died on Dec. 17, 2025. Tony gained his angel wings and ascended upon heaven to meet his father Anthony, who passed away before Tony was born, and to celebrate the holiday season with the two people he missed dearly, his mother Dianne; and step father, Ernie Lind, Jr.

Tony was born in Illinois, to Dianne and the late Anthony Swaekauski, who passed right before Tony was born.

Dianne and her son Tony relocated to Eagle River. Tony grew up here, enjoying frequent visits from the Swaekauski family and attending Northland Pines and graduating in 1978.

After graduation Tony became a professional baker by trade and loved the many people he worked with throughout the years. He was employed as a baker for Bonson's grocery store and worked there until the store sold. Tony finished his baking career at Save More in Minocqua, retiring in 2025.

Keeping up with Tony till his death was the Swaekauski family. With Tom Swaekauski even making sure to be there for Tony on behalf of Tony’s father Anthony and Tony’s beloved stepfather Ernie.

Tony was an avid collector of WW1 and WW2 rifles, pistols, knives, and machetes. His collection was quite impressive. He also collected National Geographic magazines and at his time of passing was just a few years shy of having every magazine during their publication of 135 years.

Tony's greatest passion was in model car making. His detail to exact painting of spark plug wires to door handles to side striping was impeccable. He won many awards for that passion, and was a proud member of a local modeling club enjoying his time with all the guys. His work was even published in a national model car magazine. He displayed his models with pride in his home. Another passion he had was motorcycles and was involved with many other motorcycle enthusiasts. He had many fond memories of their time and adventures together. He loved the people as much as the many, many, miles that they had enjoyed together.

He also had a strong passion for recovery. In his life, he supported his community by running AA meetings for Vilas County inmates for years. He also attended and had a hand in the outreach of various other community based programs around the area. His passion and willingness to serve led him to sponsor countless individuals over the years to benefit from his experience and willingness to help others.

Along with many close and distant loved ones that loved and shared Tony’s life from his sisters, child, niece, many aunts and uncles, cousins and former wife, to dear friends and acquaintances. Tony loved and respected everyone.

He will be remembered as a beloved family member, friend, and member of the community forever and will be loved and missed by all. Till we meet again… This obituary was composed by Dianne Merkel and Dawn Hallman with much sadness but alot of love, on behalf of Tony’s entire family now our healing process begins.
