William P. Kirby, 89, of Three Lakes, passed away on Jan. 13, 2025.
He was born in Chicago, IL on Dec. 24, 1935, to Ernest and Lorraine (nee Lubinski).
Bill lived in Chicago and Crestwood, IL until he retired permanently to Three Lakes in 1999.
Bill was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #73 (Chicago), Three Lakes Lions Club and Fishing Has No Boundaries (Eagle River). Bill enjoyed a lifetime of fishing and hunting along with the Three Lakes NASCAR, Horseshoe and Wednesday Night Muskie leagues.
Though he retired to the Wisconsin Northwoods, Bill’s passion for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs never wavered.
Bill is survived by his four children, Bill Jr. (Debbie), Sue (Paul Lazar), Jeff (Lori) and Colleen (Phil) Dorner; and stepdaughters, Gail (the late Todd) Rudie and Terry Dembraski; his 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and sister, Mary Rose (Glen Swenson); along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two wives Judy (nee Antelek) and June (nee Gerner) and four brothers, Ernest, Raymond, Ronald and Michael.
Bill will be remembered by many for his storytelling, quick wit and booming voice. He was also known for cooking a great fish fry. And if that fish fry meant that his family and friends were visiting the Northwoods, all the better. The deer, fish and local slot machines will no longer live in fear.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, May 3, at The Reiter Center in Three Lakes, 11 a.m.– 3p.m.
The family would appreciate memorials in Bill’s name to the Three Lakes Lions Club or the Eagle River Fishing Has No Boundaries. PAID OBITUARY
