Chief St. Germain returns home

Welcome celebration planned

Posted

The Save the Chief Committee will celebrate the return of the Chief St. Germain statue to its home at the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Last May, the committee removed the statue from its pedestal for fiberglass repair and other restorations.

The event will feature sandwiches, beverages, commemorative t-shirts, and other mementos for purchase. Guests can enjoy music, face painting, and a pop-up craft shop, and are encouraged to take photos with the refurbished statue.

The committee welcomes photographs of individuals and families with the statue, taken at any time. These photos will be shared on Facebook at facebook.com/savechiefstgermain, and some will be used to create posters for the celebration. Submission details are available on the Facebook page.

A coloring contest will also be held for all ages. Coloring sheets can be downloaded from the Save Chief St. Germain Facebook page and submitted the day of the event. Sheets will also be available at the event, along with coloring tables. Winners will be selected in each category and awarded prizes.

Donations are still being accepted for landscaping and beautification projects around the statue, as well as to establish a maintenance fund.

To donate online, visit givebutter.com/savethechief. Checks may be mailed to: Save the Chief, P.O. Box 117, St. Germain, WI 54558.

The St. Germain Chamber of Commerce is located at 437 Highway 70.
