Clash of the Paddle registration deadline set for Sept. 6

Posted

The YMCA of the Northwoods and Rhinelander Pickleball are once again hosting the Clash of the Paddles outdoor pickleball tournament this fall at Pioneer Park in Rhinelander on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-13. The registration deadline for the tournament is Sunday, Sept. 6.

The price is $40 per person, with an extra $20 fee if a player would like to play in a mixed doubles division and vice versa. The tournament is open to all skill levels.

Organizers say players should prioritize registration, with spots expected to fill fast.

The tournament is capped at eight teams or 16 players per division. There will be four men’s divisions, three women’s divisions and four mixed doubles divisions, and teams will be placed in a division based on their DUPR rating.

Men’s and women’s doubles will play on Saturday, Sept. 12, and mixed doubles is set to hit the court on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Each division will play a round-robin tournament format, with a possible mini-playoff for the top teams. The top three teams will receive awards in each bracket. There will be an awards ceremony after each bracket.

New this year is a just-for-fun individual bracket that will be played on Sunday, which allows players to rotate partners after every game.

Spectators are welcome to come out to enjoy the pickleball action. In case of rain, play will be moved to the Hodag Dome.

Any registration questions can be directed to Matt Steingraber via email at msteingraber@ymcanw.org or via phone at 715-362-9622, ext. 120.
