Trial set for Flambeau man in attempted homicide case

Brett La Barge, 42, of Lac du Flambeau, appeared for a judicial pretrial on one felony charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. A jury trial was scheduled during the hearing, which is set for Dec. 15-17, starting at 8:15 a.m. A final pretrial will be Oct. 27 at 10 a.m.

Shannon Chapman, 39, of Lac du Flambeau, had a $5,000 cash bond adjusted down to $1,500 at a status hearing on one felony charge of fourth-offense OWI, one felony bail-jumping charge and one misdemeanor. An oral ruling hearing is scheduled for Aug.12 at 11 a.m.

Ayla Sunn, 39, of Lac du Flambeau, pleaded not guilty to one misdemeanor battery charge and two counts of felony bail jumping at an arraignment hearing last week. A plea/sentencing hearing was scheduled for June 29 at 11 a.m. for this case and two other cases involving Sunn.

Robert Smith, 43, of Lac du Flambeau, appeared for a judicial pretrial on one felony charge of strangulation and suffocation with a domestic abuse modifier and a misdemeanor battery charge. Judge Daniel Overbey denied Smith’s motion to dismiss, and a jury trial was scheduled in the case. The jury trial was scheduled for Aug. 24 at 8:15 a.m. A final pretrial is set for July 7 at 11 a.m.
