For people looking to take a more active role in Wisconsin’s deer management, the DNR says to consider participating in their Adopt-a-Kiosk or Adopt-a-Dumpster programs. These programs provide hunters more convenient access to chronic wasting disease (CWD) sampling and proper deer carcass disposal sites, according to the DNR.
Adopt-a-Kiosk
CWD kiosks offer 24/7 access to CWD sampling materials and sampling kits. Making testing available and increasing participation, especially in priority areas, is vital to the state’s CWD surveillance efforts, says the DNR.
Individuals and organizations volunteer to help manage a number of kiosks each deer season.
Volunteers have the option to contribute on a variety of levels, from simply checking kiosks for testing submissions, to constructing and delivering a kiosk to an agreed-upon location.

Adopt-a-Dumpster
The Adopt-a-Dumpster program provides convenient deer carcass waste disposal locations, especially in areas with limited options.
Proper disposal keeps potentially infected deer off the landscape and is an important way to slow the spread of CWD in Wisconsin.
Partners participate by donating the full cost of a dumpster or joining the cost-sharing program, which the DNR says ensures partners will not pay more than $500 for their share.
Groups may be able to host a dumpster on public land with consultation from the DNR.
