Posted

The Northland Pines boys basketball team will remain in action during the holidays, playing in a holiday tournament at Adams-Friendship High School Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27-28.
The tournament will start at 1 p.m. both days and will feature Northland Pines, Adams- Friendship, Hillsboro and Sparta.
The Eagles, 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the Great Northern Conference (GNC), faced Lakeland in a GNC game on Friday, Dec. 20, but the results were not available for this issue due to an early holiday deadline for the newspaper. So far in GNC contests, the Eagles beat Tomahawk 58-31 and lost to Rhinelander 65-48.
Following the holidays, Pines will return to GNC action hosting Mosinee Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 7:15 p.m. in the fieldhouse. Then on Friday, Jan. 10, the Eagles will travel to Medford in another GNC battle.
In addition to the Rhinelander loss, coach Terry Klemett’s team has only lost one other game to Wausau West, 74-65. The other four victories have come against Three Lakes 68-55, Newman Catholic 71-35, Hurley 64-58, and Merrill 61-45.
“The coaching staff is very pleased with where we are at, at this point in the season,” said Klemett, in his sixth year at Northland Pines.
