Freedom 5K to benefit local trails set June 29

The St. Germain Silent Trails UA, a local nonprofit dedicated to preserving and enhancing outdoor recreational trails, will host the 19th annual Freedom 5K and 1K Kids Run/Walk on Sunday, June 29, at the St. Germain Community Park.

Participants of all ages are invited to lace up their running or walking shoes and enjoy a scenic course through the beautiful Awassa Trails.

Race day registration and packet pickup begin at 7:15 a.m. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 1K Kids Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m.

All proceeds from the event will directly support the maintenance and development of St. Germain’s biking, hiking, and winter non-motorized trails — ensuring they remain accessible and enjoyable for residents and visitors year-round.

After the race, participants are encouraged to stick around for the town’s Independence Day celebrations, including the parade through downtown St. Germain.

This annual event is made possible by generous Gold Sponsors, including The Hiker Box, Waldmann Construction, The McGill Family, St. Germain Northwoods Lions Club, Bob and Judy Schell, JV Squared, Lake of the Torches, Joint Trek, St. Germain Chamber, St. Germain Community Church and Thrift Shop, and Walmart.

The St. Germain Silent Trails UA remains committed to promoting outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship through events like the Freedom 5K.

The early bird registration fee of $30 for the 5K is available through June 20. For more information or to register, visit freedom5k.org or contact Stacy Swenson at 715-892-1009.
