Gloria Suzanne Wedow
On the morning of June 27, 2026, Gloria Suzanne Wedow, 83, peacefully left her earthly life.
Gloria was born on August 12, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, during the city's first World War II blackout drill, when the only light came from flashlights. It was a remarkable beginning to a life defined by faith, compassion, and service to others.
She grew up in Chicago and attended Calvin Park High School. On September 22, 1962, she married the love of her life, Burton Charles Wedow. Together they shared more than 61 years of marriage before Burton's passing on January 6, 2024.
In 1978, Gloria and Burton moved their family from Chicago to Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin, where they built their home on a beautiful Northwoods lake and became active members of the community they loved.
Gloria was an early and dedicated member of the Land O' Lakes Fish and Game Club. A faithful follower of Christ, she was an active member of Ely Memorial Church, attending regularly until her health no longer allowed. She was also a devoted member of Eagle Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she cherished the opportunity to serve, support her community, and live out her faith. Being a devoted Christian, giving back to others, and serving her community were among the guiding principles of her life.
Her career reflected her caring heart. Gloria worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Lillian Kerr Nursing Home, Eagle River Memorial Hospital, and later as a Home Health CNA with Dr. Kate's. Caring for others was not simply her profession—it was one of her greatest gifts.
Gloria is survived by her son, Bradley (Irvine) Wedow of Land O' Lakes; her daughter, Gayle (Steve) Daniel of Rhinelander; her son, Bryan (Peggy) Wedow of Mosinee; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other cherished relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Ely Memorial Church in Land O' Lakes. A tribute by Eagle Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star will precede the funeral service, which will be officiated by Rev. Timothy Miller. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Land O' Lakes. Family and friends are then invited to return to the church for a luncheon and a time of fellowship.
Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
