Gus Holzbauer

 Gus was born on July 4, 2002, in Appleton, WI, to Steven and Jodi Holzbauer.

 

Gus was a 2020 graduate of Three Lakes High School and a graduate of Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI, with a degree in criminal justice. He worked as a corrections officer for Oneida Co. and formerly of Calumet Co.  

 

Gus married his high school sweetheart, McKenzie, on June 11, 2022, in Eagle River. He was a collector of WWII memorabilia and enjoyed traveling to the Florida Keys. He was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle River. Above all he enjoyed spending time outdoors with his beloved dogs: Finley and Aggie. 

 

He is survived by his wife, McKenzie Holzbauer of Eagle River; parents, Steven (Jodi) Holzbauer of Eagle River; brother, Samuel (MacKenzie) Holzbauer of New Ulm, MN; maternal grandparents, Robert (Claudia) Doman of Eagle River; paternal grandfather, John Holzbauer of Ohio; paternal grandparents, Terry (Kitty) Colligan of Waupaca, WI; father and mother-in-law, Brian (Patti) Frankenberg; sister-in-law, Madisen (Julio Ridgley) Frankenberg and their son, Remington Frankenberg of Eagle River; and grandmother-in-law, Carol Dart. He is further survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends which he loved deeply.  

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle River, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
