Helen Avery Minth

Helen Avery Minth, age 81, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.    Helen was a Graduate of River Falls, Wisconsin, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She was married to Larry Minth in 1972, at Christ Lutheran Church in Eagle River. Helen and Larry would have been celebrating 53 years together this December.

In January 1997, she established the St. Louis Empowerment Center (S.L.E.C.) Her compassionate leadership created a haven for recovery for individuals with lived experience with mental health and substance use challenges.  She retired from the Empowerment Center in 2017.  Her legacy continues to this day. 

Helen was the daughter-in-law of Arthur and Margaret Minth, both deceased, who operated several restaurants in Eagle River, the last one was the Hiawatha Lodge and Supper Club.    

She is survived by her loving husband, Larry; one daughter, Sarah (Steve) Earll; and grandson, Mason Earll.                                            PAID OBITUARY
