Helene Nora Swiontek
Helene (nee Jurek) Swiontek, age 94, of Eagle River, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Renaissance Assisted Living in Weston, WI, near her daughter.
Mom prepared her own obituary making changes as they happened over the years. Not one to talk about herself, I’ve added a little more to honor her life.
Helene was born in Harvey, IL, to Nora and Michael Jurek on July 16, 1931.
Two children survive her, Julienne Meister, Hatley, WI, and Anthony (Barb) Swiontek, Eagle River, WI. Seven grandchildren, Shawn Swiontek, Michelle (Jim) Janet, Amanda (George) Morris, Andrea Meister, Michael Meister, Jr., Colton (Jolene) Swiontek, and Luke Swiontek. Five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Zachary and Molly Swiontek, Evan Janet, and Avery Ann Morris. Further survived by her pet cockatiel, pretty boy; loving niece, Suzanne; and other nieces, nephews, and their families.
Preceded in death by her children, Infant son, Christopher, Ted Swiontek, Jr., and Nancy Curtis; parents; and all of her siblings (three sisters and five brothers); and other family.
Helene was former President and Vice President of St. Peter’s Catholic Ladies and volunteered at St. Peter’s Thrift Shop, and was a former Eucharistic Minister.
Mom loved The Lord, first and foremost, and also enjoyed gardening, sewing (and made many of us our own little pillows with seasonal pillowcases), reading, word search puzzles, collecting bells and hummingbirds of all kinds, crafts, and loved her family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter the Fisherman Church in Eagle River, WI, with Funeral Mass following at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will be served after the mass at the Church and all are invited to help us celebrate her life. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Eagle River, WI, in May.
