Hunters are reminded to wear blaze orange

Posted

As open firearm seasons open across the state, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reminds hunters to sport their blaze orange.

During any statewide open firearm hunting season, all hunters (except waterfowl hunters) are required to wear 50% blaze orange or fluorescent pink above the waist.

That means if a hunter is wearing a hat or hoodie, it also needs to be at least 50% blaze orange or fluorescent pink.

Public land users are highly encouraged to wear orange or fluorescent pink clothing during any hunting season.

If recreating on public land with a furry friend, consider getting them a stylish blaze orange or fluorescent pink bandana or vest, too.

Wearing these highly visible colors helps everyone stay safe in the woods during hunting season.
