In a 323 to 257 vote, Debra Brown ousted long-term incumbent Jeff Hyslop in the race for City of Eagle River Mayor.
Hyslop was first elected mayor in April, 2001, following the previous mayor, Dan Meyer, being elected into the State Assembly. Hyslop was first elected to the Common Council in April of 1995 as an Alderman.
“I am looking forward to getting to work with staff and council members on the issues that keep the City running and looking to the future,” Brown said.
Brown will be sworn into office on April 15.
Of the 17,824 registered voters in Vilas County, 11,176 — or 63% — participated in the April 1 election.
