Icy roads claim life in one-vehicle accident

A 49-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle accident the night of Nov. 22 in the Town of Conover.

Vilas County Dispatch received a call reporting a semi cab was flipped onto its roof in the area of Highway 45 and Abalan Lane around 10:50 p.m.

Driver Jansan V. Murray of Leesburg, Fla., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation showed the vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 45 and lost control due to icy road conditions.

Responding to the scene were Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, Conover Fire Department, Conover Ambulance, Land O’ Lakes Fire Department, Eagle River Ambulance, Aspirus MedEvac, Vilas County Highway Department, Otto’s Towing, Kumbier’s Towing, Oneida County Medical Examiner, Eagle River Police Department, and Vilas County Emergency Management.
