Marilyn Preisler
Marilyn Grace Preisler passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rhinelander following a brief battle with cancer.
Marilyn was born in Chicago on September 2, 1935, and was the only child of Rod and Elsie Hanna. She spent her early years in the Milwaukee area and then moved to Fifield, WI, where she excelled in school, being honored as Valedictorian of Price County upon graduation in 1953.
Marilyn married Duane A. Preisler on February 22, 1953, in Waukegan, IL, right before he left to serve in the Korean conflict. At that time, she went on to study nursing in Superior, WI, until Duane’s return. Marilyn and Duane raised three children in Fifield until 1969, when they moved to Eagle River.
Marilyn worked for many years for Dr. Neal Nielsen, a local dentist. When he retired, she went back to school to obtain her associates degree in business while also working as an administrative assistant at the Northland Pines School District until her retirement.
Marilyn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, always having a pot of coffee to share. She was a dedicated Wisconsin sports fan, had fun camping and traveling, and loved her West Highland Terriers. She was especially proud of her dog, Lizzie, who was a certified therapy dog. Marilyn was a devoted member the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eagle River, where she served as Board secretary for 25 years. She loved her Church dearly and considered the members her second family.
Marilyn was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane; and daughter, Marlane (Joe) Sparks.
She is survived by her daughter, Maureen (Carl) Ujadowski; her son, Dr. Scott (Colleen) Preisler; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 27, at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Northland Pines Community Foundation.
