Marv was born June 14, 1937, in Racine, Wisconsin, the son of Edna and Wallace Jarvis. He was raised and lived in Union Grove, Wisconsin until he retired and moved to Three Lakes, Wisconsin in 1992.
In high school, Marv played basketball and football, winning a football championship. Marv served his country as a member of the Army National Guard in the early 1960s.
In 1967, Marv married Betty (Winkelman) in Loveland, Colorado. Marv worked for JI Case for 34 years. He was also a member of the Volunteer Union Grove-Yorkville Fire and Rescue Department for 30 years as an EMT and firefighter. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Church in Union Grove and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Eagle River, serving as an elder and usher.
Marv was an avid outdoor enthusiast. He loved to fish and hunt and participated in several musky tournaments and hunting trips out west. He enjoyed camping trips with family and friends. He was also a member of the snowmobile club.
Marv also enjoyed traveling and for many years, escaped the harsh northern Wisconsin winters for the warmer temperatures in Florida. He also enjoyed visiting Costa Rica to visit former AFS exchange student Jose Fernandez and his family. Though he enjoyed traveling and experiencing new things, he was most at home in Wisconsin, in front of the fireplace, playing cribbage and watching his favorite Wisconsin sports teams. (Maybe with a brandy old fashioned in hand.)
Marv was a beloved and devoted husband to his wife, Betty, who passed away in 2014.
He is survived by his three sons, Richard Jarvis of Union Grove, WI, Randall Jarvis of Union Grove, WI, and Ronald Jarvis of Bristol, WI. Marv was also a deeply cherished grandfather to Jacquelyn (Jason) Jaworski, Ken Jarvis (Fiancée Veronica), and Katie (Brandon) Hedrington. He has five great-grandchildren, Frederick Jaworski, Sonia Jaworski, Kyleigh Jarvis, Jaxen Jarvis, and Brayden Horist.
He is preceded in death by his three stepchildren, Carol Madory, Donna Jaeger, and Charles Jaeger; his parents, Edna and Wallace Jarvis; and brother Wayne Jarvis; Sister-In Law Eldien (Albright) Jarvis of Shawno, WI; and Nephew Jim Jarvis.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Les Anderson, Honey Rock, Three Lakes Rescue and the Medical Staff at the Eagle River Hospital. Also, thank you to everyone that stopped to see Marv in the Hospital.
