Mary Jaeger

Mary Lou ''Molly'' Jaeger passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in West Lafayette with her family by her side.

The daughter of Tom and Lucille Melham born December 8, 1930.

Madison, Wisconsin was her home until she graduated from the  University of Wisconsin  in 1952, with a degree in Journalism. She just celebrated her 75th year as a sorority sister with Alpha Chi Omega this past year.

Her first job moved her to Washington DC to work with a publisher called American Canning Association where she loved to both write and develop recipes using various canned foods to promote the canning for households.

After a long courtship, she married the love of her life, Edward Jaeger of Marinette, Wisconsin. Together they located to Fort Dodge, Iowa where she worked for the local paper. They had their first son, Peter, in 1958, after they relocated into Lesueur, Minnesota. The family grew again in 1961, with a second son, Richard. Her focus was on raising a family and in 1969, they adopted a newborn, daughter, Kristin, in Kankakee, Illinois.

Within the 1980's, she went back to work at the local paper, Kankakee Daily Journal for several years.

Retirement found them both returning to their beloved state of Wisconsin and enjoyed 35 years on Yellow Birch Lake in Eagle River. During this time, they were very active with their church, First Congregational United Church of Christ. Additionally, they established themselves with the local neighbors making those years so enjoyable for retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; and son, Richard.

She is survived by her son, Peter (Connie) of West Lafayette, Indiana; and daughter, Kristin Jordan of Brookfield, Connecticut. She had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be August 14, 2025, 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church with burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Oneida Humane Society, 1852 North Stevens St., Rhinelander, WI 54501 or Elara Caring Hospice Foundation, 209 East Washington, Suite 450, Jackson, MI 49201.     PAID OBITUARY
