After a three year hiatus, the Northwoods Living Care Foundation Picnic in the Park event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 28, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Wavering Park.
The picnic will feature live music by the Pine River Band, face painting, raffles and games at no charge for children.
Burgers, brats, hot dogs or pulled pork, potato salad or chips will be available for purchase at a cost of $7 per plate. Children under the age of 10 can get a hot dog, chips and juice at no charge.
The Phelps Volunteer Fire Department will sell soda and beer at the event.
“The foundation board wants to show the community that we appreciate all the years they have supported our picnic by keeping the plate costs down this year and no charge for the younger children,” said Cathy Grady, foundation president.
Proceeds from the picnic are utilized to support the town of Phelps Emergency Medical Fund.
“In the 22 years that we have sponsored this picnic, the foundation has collected over $200,000 for the town of Phelps Emergency Medical Fund, which in the past has been applied to new ambulances and equipment,” added Grady.
