Pines announces plans for new forest classroom

Matching grant running thru end of year to support effort

Posted

The Northland Pines School District, in partnership with the Northland Pines Community Foundation and CornerStone Custom Builders, is working toward the construction of a new classroom and community building at the district’s School Forest.

The proposed 2,400-square-foot facility, located at 4000 Chain O’ Lakes Road in Eagle River, will provide a dedicated space for hands-on learning, environmental education and community activities. Designed to accommodate approximately 100 people, the building will include an open-concept classroom, a small serving kitchen and restrooms, creating opportunities for year-round educational experiences.

A unique aspect of this project is the involvement of Northland Pines High School Building Trades students, who will play an active role in constructing the facility. This hands-on experience will allow students to develop valuable skills while contributing to a lasting resource for their school and community.

The district is grateful for its continued partnership with CornerStone Custom Builders, which has supported the building trades program since 2008, and for the Northland Pines Community Foundation’s involvement in bringing this vision to life.

The estimated cost of the project is $400,000, with fundraising efforts currently underway.

School officials said a generous community member has pledged to match donations up to $100,000 through Dec. 31 of this year, providing an opportunity to double the impact of community contributions. Fundraising will continue until the project goal is reached.

The district, foundation and CornerStone invite community members to support this exciting investment in education and the future of the Northwoods.
