Roger LeBarron
Roger A. LeBarron, a long-time resident of Eagle River, passed away on Friday February 20, 2026. at the age of 81.
Roger was born July 15, 1944, in Los Angeles, CA, to Monica (Pizani) and Cletis LeBarron. Although they often struggled, he and his sister Maureen (Stuart) McFarland and brother Steve have fond memories of childhood along with many lessons learned the hard way including but not limited to always wearing safety glasses when shooting bb guns. In his early teenage years after a few more hard lessons, Roger spent some time at Rancho Boys Home. It was there that he learned to ride horses and had his first taste of firefighting.
In his late teens, Roger left California and travelled East to Austin, MN. He enjoyed time getting to know his Minnesota family of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins before enlisting in the US Army. He was stationed in Germany before serving the rest of his term in Vietnam. Roger was proud of his service to our country and serving as a 19th Combat Engineer but spoke very little about this time.
On November 25, 1965, after a brief courtship, Roger made the best decision of his life and married Cheryl (Colberg). He Loved Cheryl and showered her with flowers and heart shaped jewelry for every occasion and just because. He never missed a chance to tell everyone how lucky he was. Together they left California for good and settled in Milwaukee WI. It was in Milwaukee that Roger realized a life-long dream and became a member of the City of Milwaukee Fire Department.
Roger spent his last decades in Eagle River where he enjoyed many hobbies including cross-country skiing, riding his motorcycle, traveling, camping and hunting, however nothing was as important as time with his family. He will be remembered as the fixer of all things and for how much he loved his family. He will forever and always be the best Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa ever.
Roger is survived by his wife and best friend, Cheryl; children, Craig LeBarron, Michelle (Brett) Gilbert and Eric (Katie) LeBarron. Seven Grandchildren, Morgan (Slade), Kyle, and Carly Gilbert. Scarlet, Josie, Hazel, and Oliver LeBarron. two great-grandchildren, Walker and Lainey Paulsen. His sister, Maureen; brother, Steve; and many other close family members.
A private Celebration of Life and Interment will take place at a later date.
