Posted

The Senior Spotlight series will highlight the senior athletes in the area around the communities of Eagle River, Three Lakes, and Phelps. This week, Northland Pines varsity golfer Anderson Kielty is in the spotlight. Kielty most recently signed to further his academic and athletic career next fall at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio, for men’s golf. He is a two-sport athlete with hockey and golf, and he also enjoys snowboarding in the winter. Here is more on the Pines senior:

Do you have a nickname that your friends or family call you?

“My family calls me Bud. When I was born, my sister was four. She said Anderson was too long, and she was going to call me Bud.”

What is your favorite sport to play?

“Golf. It’s always a different game and keeps you on your toes. There’s a lot of creativity involved.”

Is there a personal goal you want to hit in golf this year?

“I would like to make it to State and shoot under par in a tournament. I would like to show my abilities against the toughest competition in Wisconsin.”

What other hobbies do you have outside of sports?

I like to be outdoors. Any activity outside is what I’m looking for. I guess all my hobbies are sports-related. Snowboarding, golfing and hockey.”

Favorite vacation spot that you've been to?

“Cozumel, Mexico. I was able to go with my best friend, my cousin, and to also be with my aunt and grandma. Amazing vacation.”

Do you have a pregame ritual that helps you before meets?

“I putt early in the morning before school, and I always listen to music when I'm warming up.”

What went into your commitment to play golf at Lourdes University?

“It’s a small school and has that family feeling. The team took me out on the course with them, and they were very nice and welcoming. They all love their coach, and I could see what a great group they were.”
