Timothy James Hargraves
July 20, 1966 — September 9, 2026
Timothy J. Hargraves, 60, of Conover, WI, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Tim was born on July 20, 1966, in Monona, WI, the son of Doloris Higgins and Robert Hargraves. He married the love of his life, Penny Hassler, on November 26, 1993.
After attending Monona Grove High School and graduating from LaFollette High School in 1984, Tim spent the summer working on a fishing boat and for the Forest Service in Alaska. He met Penny, became a father to Brittney, and eventually moved with his family to Alaska, where they spent many exciting years together. Tim and Penny moved to Conover in 2006 a place they call home.
Tim completed his plumbing apprenticeship with Steve Saniter and became a master plumber in 1995. He started Hargraves Plumbing in Watertown and moved it to Conover. Together he and Penny purchased, renovated, and rented homes.
Tim enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, boating, camping, kayaking, walking the shores of Lake Superior, and annual vacations to Mackinac Island. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends, making people laugh, and telling funny stories. Tim had a way of making the people around him feel welcome and leaving them with a good story to remember.
Tim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Penny; his daughter, Brittney; his mother, Doloris Higgins (Richard Braddee); his siblings, Kelly and Katie; his nieces and nephews, Keegan, Anabelle, Mackenzie, Emily, and Mac Michael; his stepmother, Sue Hargraves; and his stepbrother, Joe Becker (Stephanie). He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and their children, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as business associates and many friends.
Tim was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Hargraves.
Friends and family will gather to share stories and memories of Tim on Friday, September 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Fireman’s Park, 4800 Winnequah Road, Monona, WI. And October 10 from 12:00 to 3:00 at Conover Town Park, 4697 Park Circle, Conover, WI.
In lieu of flowers, please pay it forward in honor of Tim by doing something nice for a family member, a friend, or a neighbor.
