The Town of Lincoln will hold a series of budget-related meetings Monday, Dec. 1, including a special electors meeting to approve the 2025 tax levy.
The town is proposing a 7.81% increase in the property tax levy which represents an increase of $98,400 over last year’s levy. The total proposed levy for 2025 (payable in 2026), is $1.36 million.
Total anticipated expenditures for 2026 are $2,196,719 million — a $337,629 increase over the 2025 budget of $1,859,090.
The single largest jump in the proposed budget is for Transportation (from $818,158 to $1,033,209). Second is the Debt Service Fund increasing by $115,170 (from $155,000 to $270,170).
Total revenues are anticipated to increase only slightly (by about $18,000) which is not enough to cover the overall spending increase. The 2025 levy includes a $633,000 adjustment for BCPL State Trust Fund Loans.
The public budget hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Town Hall at 1205 Sundstein Road, where residents can see the budget and provide comments. A special town meeting of the electors will be held immediately after the hearing where voters can approve the $1.36 million levy.
