State Sen. Mary Felzkowski (R-Tomahawk) and Rep. Rob Swearingen (R-Rhinelander) were recently honored by the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) with WCA Outstanding Legislator Awards for their work on behalf of county government during the 2025-2026 Legislative Session.

WCA President and CEO Mark D. O’Connell took a moment to congratulate both legislators on their accolades.

“Senate President Felzkowski is a key leader in tackling the most pressing issues facing the 12th Senate District and communities across Wisconsin,” O’Connell said. “Her deliberate, insightful approach to policymaking continues to strengthen Wisconsin’s future, while always keeping in mind the taxpayers of our state.”

He went on to call Swearingen a “dependable advocate for efforts that strengthen the 34th Assembly District and benefit counties across Wisconsin.”

“We value his consistent dedication and leadership in moving forward policies that address the issues Wisconsin faces today and help ensure meaningful opportunities for the people who will call this state home in the years ahead,” O’Connell added.

The award is handed out biennially to a select group of legislators who have represented county interests in both the legislature and in their districts. These legislators have demonstrated leadership for counties on key issues, legislation and the state budget. WCA represents the interests of county government both on the state and federal levels and is in Madison. For more information, visit wicounties.org.
