An adult gray fox, a somewhat uncommon species in the North Woods, saunters down a city street on Eagle River’s south side in broad daylight. The species is strikingly different than the red fox with its gray body, white neck patch and no white tip on the tail. Unlike the red fox, the gray fox is specifically adapted to climb trees.
