The Vilas County summer ATV/UTV trail system and off-highway motorcycle (OHM) trail system have officially closed for the season as of Oct. 31.
The Vilas County Forestry, Recreation and Land Department extends its appreciation to the many volunteers and clubs who dedicated countless hours throughout the season to maintaining the trail systems and keeping them in good condition. Their continued efforts and commitment are essential to providing quality recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.
Although the designated summer ATV/UTV trail systems are closed, year-round riding opportunities remain available. All lettered county roads (A, B, K, etc.) are open for year-round ATV/UTV use, except for those located within the Town of Lac du Flambeau. Additionally, many towns throughout Vilas County permit year-round ATV/UTV use on designated town roads.
Riders are encouraged to contact their local town clerk to confirm road access and any applicable restrictions before traveling.
For additional information, contact Don Merten, Parks and Recreation supervisor, at 715-479-5160.
In Oneida County, ATV, UTV and OHM trails will remain open until Dec. 2.
