The Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club recently conducted a Wisconsin DNR snowmobile safety class in Eagle River.
Instruction was provided by DNR-certified instructors Carole Linn, Chris Fuller and Scott Fruhwirth who taught students the basics of snowmobiling. They received instruction on snowmobile parts and function, protective gear, environmental protection, being respectful and courteous, riding positions, responsible riding, group riding, trail etiquette, emergency situations and survival, ice safety, and what to do when encountering a groomer on the trail.
DNR Conservation Warden Tim Price also discussed Wisconsin snowmobile laws with the students.
Trackside of Eagle River provided a snowmobile to use as a training aid during the one-and-a-half-day course. This “hands-on” approach has been one of the successes of the class, allowing the students to work closely with instructors in small groups while learning about snowmobile parts and operation.
Lunch was provided by several local restaurants, including Buckshot’s Saloon and Eatery, Sweetwater Spirits and Resort, Eagle Lanes, and JJ’s House of Dogs.
Each of these establishments donated pizzas for the class. Kwik Trip donated soda and ice.
Sno-Eagles officials expressed their gratitude to these establishments for their support of this important event.
All students in attendance earned their snowmobile safety certificates.
